The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salt Lake is the largest youth serving organization in Utah. 75% of the kids that go to Boys and Girls Clubs are from low-income families and 70% are from single parent households. The Club receives fresh produce from Backyard GardenShare. According to Jaimie Dunn, Director of the Sugarhouse Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salt Lake, she loves BSG because it helps them serve 250 healthy meals and snacks a day. “We get a lot of fresh produce from BSG and we incorporate it into our meals and snacks. None of it goes to waste. It is really rare to have fresh, nutritious produce to serve kids in big groups and we are so happy we can. We are able to serve much healthier meals thanks to BSG.”
Please consider taking your excess produce to a neighborhood collection site so that it can help organizations like the Boys and Girls Club. Check out the map below to find the closest drop-off point.
